We are looking for student panelists to participate in a discussion about Queer student experiences in STEM at the 2021 ASEE conference. We are looking for a diverse array of Undergrad and Graduate students with a variety of identities, experiences and backgrounds to participate. We are particularly looking to highlight the experiences of those at the intersection of multiple marginalized identities.
This panel will require participates to be very open and vulnerable as we discuss sensitive topics about how queer identities make it harder to navigate life, and STEM in particular. This will include a discussion of coming out, experienced micro/macro aggressions and a discussion of the culture of engineering in general. If you are not comfortable with this, we are also seeking anonymous written reflections to distribute to participants to provide a wider breadth of experiences for attendees.
For questions please email Brandon Bakka (He/They) at bbakka@utexas.edu or Madeleine Jennings (They/Them) at mfjenni1@asu.edu
Please note your responses will be kept confidential and will only be viewed by the organizers of the panel.
